ScoutRV and the Meta catalog

Dynamic ads on Facebook and Instagram need a product catalog. Scout serves one from your own domain, generated from the inventory the site is already rendering.

How it works

  • The feed is CSV in the shape Meta’s catalog importer expects, generated live rather than exported nightly.
  • Availability follows the unit’s real status, so a sold unit stops being retargeted rather than continuing to spend against a listing you cannot fill.
  • Served from your own domain and resolved by hostname, so a group’s stores each feed their own catalog.
  • The endpoint is rate-limited, so a misconfigured importer fetching in a loop degrades rather than affecting the site.

Questions

Meta catalog questions

Who sets this up in Business Manager?+

You or your agency point a scheduled feed at the URL. Nothing needs to be installed on the site.

How quickly does a sold unit drop out?+

On Meta’s next fetch. The feed itself reflects the change immediately.
