DMS · Motility → ScoutRV

ScoutRV and Motility

Motility exports are read directly. Both the XML and the CSV shapes are supported, because Motility installations do not all export the same field names.

How it works

  • Inventory flows from your DMS into Scout automatically on a schedule — no exports, no spreadsheets, no re-keying.
  • Units arrive with pricing, status, photos and specifications, and changes made in the DMS appear on the site without anyone touching the website.
  • Feed health is monitored. If your DMS stops sending, an automated check catches it within hours rather than when a customer calls about a unit you sold last week — a failure mode most RV dealers have experienced at least once.
  • Two readers exist — one for the XML export and one for the CSV — so you send whichever your installation produces rather than being asked to change it.
  • Field names differ between Motility installations. Mapping is configuration rather than code, so a store whose export calls a field something unusual is handled by pointing the mapping at it, not by waiting for a release.
  • Status handling is rule-driven: which of your DMS status values mean sold, pending, on hold or on order is something you set, and a value the platform has not seen before is recorded rather than silently dropped.
  • Staleness is judged on the date of the feed file itself, not on whether the nightly sync ran. A provider that keeps re-serving the same file makes the sync look healthy while your inventory quietly freezes; that is the case the check is built to catch, and anything over 48 hours raises an alert.

Questions

Motility questions

We are on the older Systems 2000 branding. Is that the same thing?+

Yes — the reader treats Systems 2000 and Motility as the same provider.

Our export has odd field names. Does that need custom work?+

No. Field mapping is configured per dealer, so unusual column names are pointed at the right platform field without a code change.

What happens to a status value nobody has mapped yet?+

It is recorded as unmapped rather than guessed at, so it can be reviewed and mapped instead of quietly changing a unit’s state on the site.
